Sibelius was a Finnish composer from late romantic/early 20th century period who built his reputation by composing works with finnish/ nordic taste. Finland was under Russia’s rule and nationalism was a thing during that time! (You know that time of the history.. after WWI and colonialism was popular and what not)

Symphony No.2 is the most popular work out of his 7 symphonies, and known for its reminiscing quality to nordic folksongs! While listening to the music, you can experience the snow storms, aurora, wind slapping your cheeks, deers running around in the forest, kids playing with the snow, and anything you dream of for winter in Finland! 😌
